Hopwall: Cookie Statement

This page explains why our website, portal and link pages show no cookie banner.

1. What we store on your device

WhereWhatTypeWhy it is exempt from consent
hopwall.com (marketing site)NothingNoneNo cookies, no analytics, no advertising tags.
app.hopwall.com (portal)__Host-hw_sessionCookie, set only after you sign in; HttpOnly, Secure; ends after 12 hours idle, 30 days at most, or at log outStrictly necessary to provide the signed-in service you asked for.
hopwall.com and portalhw-themeLocal storage, set only when you press the light/dark switchStores a setting you requested, stays on your device, never sent to us.
Agency link pagesNothing (no cookies). The Instagram escape page keeps a one-tab flag in session storageSession storage, deleted when the tab closesStrictly necessary to deliver the link you tapped without sending you round in a loop.

2. Why no banner is needed

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), regulation 6, consent is needed to store or read information on a device unless the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service the user has requested. Everything listed above falls within that exemption: a sign-in session for a service you signed in to, a display preference you chose, and a navigation flag that delivers the link you tapped. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so there is nothing that needs consent. On our website and portal, fonts and map files are served from our own site, so no font or file service receives your IP address. A link page loads its images only from its own domain (an avatar the agency links from another site is fetched once by us and served as a copy; see the Privacy Notice, 1.5), so no other site can set a cookie through it.

[Solicitor to confirm that the PECR strictly-necessary exemption covers each item.]

3. If this changes

If we ever add a cookie that is not strictly necessary (for example analytics), we will ask for consent first and update this page.
